Bloodline Traits
- Vitals Adjusted: Gain +1 to any Vital of your choice.
- Popular Classes: Any.
- Languages: Acacian, Trade.
Adapt on the Fly
Once per Rest, after an Acacian fails a Skill Check, they may add +1 dot to the final result and recalculate the outcome. This may turn the failure into a success or improve its Degree of Failure.
Adaptable Skills
When a Story Milestone is resolved, an Acacian may reduce one trained Skill by 1 level and increase a different Skill by 1 level. The receiving Skill cannot exceed its Linked Vital or be higher than the source Skill was before the transfer.
Physical Characteristics
- Height: Males commonly stand 160–195 cm; females commonly stand 150–185 cm.
- Weight: Males commonly weigh 55–110 kg; females commonly weigh 45–95 kg.
- Maturity and Lifespan: Acacians reach physical maturity around 18 years and typically live 70–90 years.
- Eye Colour: Most commonly brown, hazel, or amber.
- Hair: Most commonly black or dark brown and often braided or ornamented.
- Unique Traits: Skin tones vary widely, with olive to deep brown tones common. Kohl worn around the eyes is a protective custom, and some Acacians bear an Osirian mark symbolising authority over the dead.
History and Current Status
- After the Sundering, corruption of the Acacia Tree desertified much of the Acacia fragment. Necromancer-priests harnessed Osiris’s power to protect their people and control the dead.
- Wars between priestly orders and necromancer-kings shaped the fragment’s political landscape.
- Today, Acacians rule over both life and death, using necromantic practices to maintain balance between the living and the dead.
- As intermediaries between life and the afterlife, they perform rituals to stabilise their fragment and expand their influence.
Personality Traits
- Ambitious and Authoritative: Acacians are commanding, driven to master life and death, and carry a stoic, regal demeanour.
- Pragmatic and Calculating: They make calculated sacrifices in pursuit of power and stability.
- Traditional and Reverent: They regard necromancy as a sacred art rather than a dark practice.
Cultural Traits
- Values: Power, knowledge of the afterlife, control over life and death, legacy, and lineage.
- Social Dynamics: Necromancer-priests and spiritual leaders command both living and dead. Temples and tombs are centres of power contested by competing priestly orders.
- Traditions: Elaborate burial rites appease Osiris and Isis, while ceremonies harness necrotic magic to sustain rebirth and decay.
- Religion and Beliefs: Acacian worship centres on Osiris’s control of death and Isis’s protective magic, emphasising life’s cycle and rebirth. Legends recount priestly wars and undead armies raised from fallen cities. Anubis, struggling with lost souls, seeks to restore balance to the fractured afterlife.
Relationships With Neighbours
- Necrokin: Tense and often hostile; most free Necrokin resent Acacians for their necromantic origins.
- Igdrasans: Trade rivals who skirmish over resources and ash routes.
- Ceibans: Cultural rivals whose opposing beliefs about life and death fuel tension.
- Huluppians: Tense allies; philosophical rifts coexist with occasional knowledge sharing.
- Ashborn: Cautious allies who tentatively value one another’s strengths.
- K’aan: Rivals; necromancy clashes with reverence, though skirmishes can expose common threats.
