Igdrasan details
Bloodline Traits
- Vitals Adjusted: Gain +1 to any Vital of your choice.
- Popular Classes: Any.
- Languages: Igdrasan, Trade.
Adapt on the Fly
Once per Rest, after an Igdrasan fails a Skill Check, they may add +1 dot to the final result and recalculate the outcome. This may turn the failure into a success or improve its Degree of Failure.
Adaptable Skills
When a Story Milestone is resolved, an Igdrasan may reduce one trained Skill by 1 level and increase a different Skill by 1 level. The receiving Skill cannot exceed its Linked Vital or be higher than the source Skill was before the transfer.
Physical Characteristics
- Height: Males commonly stand 165–205 cm; females commonly stand 155–195 cm.
- Weight: Males commonly weigh 65–125 kg; females commonly weigh 50–110 kg.
- Maturity and Lifespan: Igdrasans reach physical maturity around 18 years and typically live 70–90 years.
- Eye Colour: Most commonly blue, grey, green, or brown.
- Hair: Most commonly fair, reddish-brown, or dark brown, kept short or arranged in practical braids.
- Unique Traits: Tall or heavily built frames are common, though far from universal. Many Igdrasans bear weathering, battle scars, or ashburns from life beneath the Eternal Ashfall.
History and Current Status
- After the Sundering, many Igdrasans fled to Yggdrasil’s edges or sought refuge in other fragments. Those who stayed endured the Eternal Ashfall and built strongholds controlling the ash trade.
- Clan warfare shaped their society as leaders claimed Odin’s fractured wisdom and prophetic authority.
- Today, Igdrasans are traders and warriors who wield economic and political power over Shatterholme’s ash routes.
- They protect clan and resources while waging wars to expand their influence over Yggdrasil.
Personality Traits
- Resilient and Brave: Igdrasans face their fragment’s hardships without yielding.
- Loyal and Guarded: They fiercely trust kin, remain wary of outsiders, and make an exception when trade demands it.
- Blunt and Intimidating: Their direct speech is often intimidating to others.
Cultural Traits
- Values: Honour, strength, survival, community, loyalty, and martial prowess.
- Social Dynamics: Warlords lead a hierarchy of clans and families, each pledged to a leader.
- Traditions: Seasonal rites celebrate battles and honour ancestors. Trading ash is both an economic pursuit and a sacred duty.
- Religion and Beliefs: Igdrasans revere Odin, Loki, and Baldr. Odin represents wisdom and madness; Loki, chaos and betrayal; and lost Baldr, hope mourned in remembrance rites. Yggdrasil’s ash symbolises life’s fragility and the balance they seek.
Relationships With Neighbours
- Ashborn: Cautious partners whose strong trade ties are tested by competition for resources.
- Acacians: Cautious competitors; mutual respect is strained by distrust of necromancy.
- Huluppians: Strained trade partners who maintain profitable exchange despite frustration.
- Necrokin: Distrustful and sometimes hostile; many Igdrasans regard them as unnatural.
