Jianmuan Bloodline

Jianmuan details

Bloodline Traits

  • Vitals Adjusted: Gain +1 to any Vital of your choice.
  • Popular Classes: Any.
  • Languages: Jianmu, Trade.

Adapt on the Fly

Once per Rest, after a Jianmuan fails a Skill Check, they may add +1 dot to the final result and recalculate the outcome. This may turn the failure into a success or improve its Degree of Failure.

Adaptable Skills

When a Story Milestone is resolved, a Jianmuan may reduce one trained Skill by 1 level and increase a different Skill by 1 level. The receiving Skill cannot exceed its Linked Vital or be higher than the source Skill was before the transfer.

Physical Characteristics

  • Height: Males commonly stand 155–190 cm; females commonly stand 145–180 cm.
  • Weight: Males commonly weigh 50–100 kg; females commonly weigh 40–90 kg.

  • Hair: Most commonly black or dark brown, often worn long or braided.
  • Unique Traits: Skin tones vary widely. Swirling tattoos, embroidered mist motifs, and carefully arranged hair commonly express family, profession, or devotion to the Jianmu Tree.

History and Current Status

  • The Sundering shattered the Jianmu Tree and scattered its remnants across the fragment. Jianmuans adapted by building fortified enclaves and mastering volatile energy.
  • Powerful warlords and mystical schools rose, using unpredictable mists and fractured magic to establish control.
  • Today, Jianmuans rule as warlords, mages, and scholars who wield unstable forces to protect their cities.
  • They manipulate the balance between heaven and earth, convinced that survival requires mastery of shifting energies and terrain.

Personality Traits

  • Cunning and Adaptable: Jianmuans find balance amid unpredictability and chaos.
  • Spiritual and Dutiful: They believe they must preserve the connection between heaven and earth.
  • Pragmatic and Tactical: They readily turn the fragment’s shifting mists into defence or weapon.

Cultural Traits

  • Values: Balance, wisdom, adaptability, and mastery of the volatile forces between heaven and earth.
  • Social Dynamics: Sorcerer-scholars and warlords combine physical and mystical power to command the mists and terrain.
  • Traditions: Sacred combat dances and meditation harmonise the realms. Mist-walking is a rite proving mastery over unstable mists.
  • Religion and Beliefs: Jianmuans revere remnants of the Jianmu Tree and honour Huang Di, Nuwa, and Fuxi. Communion with the mists and mastery of unstable energy are paths to restored harmony.

Relationships With Neighbours

  • Kalparians: Philosophical allies joined by respect for balance, intellectual collaboration, and shared ritual.
  • Edenites: Cautious observers who admire one another’s strengths but keep their distance due to different approaches to order and balance.
